2026 Tour

The 2026 UK Tour – Azalitaaba & Kakatsitsi Master Drummers

More than just entertainment – a tour with culture, conscience, and community at its heart.

Between May and November 2026, Indigenous People present a major UK tour

bringing together two of Ghana’s most powerful musical forces: Azalitaaba and the Kakatsitsi Master Drummers.

Blue Sky-1 reduced

Azalitaaba is a creative and cultural ensemble whose name, drawn from the Frafra language, means “togetherness Beyond performance, Azalitaaba embodies a wider philosophy: that cultural expression, community wellbeing, and heritage preservation are inseparable. Its members are deeply involved in grassroots initiatives supporting women, girls, widowed households, and wider indigenous communities across the Upper East Region to shape an ethos rooted in dignity, participation, and cultural continuity. At the artistic centre of Azalitaaba stands Ayuune Sule, an internationally respected kologo musician and vocalist from Bolgatanga. Known for his powerful stage presence and mastery of the northern Ghanaian kologo tradition, Sule’s music is grounded in lineage while remaining open to contemporary dialogue. He has toured widely, introducing kologo music to audiences around the world and building a reputation for authenticity, emotional force, and artistic integrity.

Kakatsitsi Master Drummers

Kakatsitsi are renowned globally for their infectious grooves and chants, blending tradition with innovation. With a long track record on the UK festival circuit, they’ve built a loyal following through high-energy performances and participatory workshops.

At their core is Injoly, the group’s spiritual leader, whose drumming style has shaped Kakatsitsi’s sound. His playing is groovy, funky, and humble rather than showy — a reflection of his cool character, for which he is rightly celebrated. While Injoly’s presence is central, Kakatsitsi’s strength lies in their collective spirit: a community of musicians working as one to create rhythm and energy greater than the sum of its parts.

One Vision, Two Pathways

Together, Azalitaaba and Kakatsitsi will present their collaboration in two distinct forms:

  • Acoustic sets — where the Fra Fra kologo and voices are woven with Kakatsitsi’s deep rhythmic chants.
  • Electro-indigenous fusion — traditional instruments meeting live electronics, creating a sound that bridges ancient roots with contemporary dancefloors.

More Than Music

The tour combines performance with participation, creating impact that reaches far beyond the stage:

  • Participation & Inclusion – breaking down barriers between performer and audience. Rather than people simply consuming art, we invite them into the creative process itself — through workshops, collaborations, and the communal finales where everyone has a role to play.
  • Health & Well-Being – using rhythm, song, and dance to build confidence, joy, and a sense of belonging.
  • Ecology – reflecting the connections between culture and environment, echoing Indigenous People’s wider commitment to ecological responsibility.
Diversity – celebrating Ghanaian culture in authentic and contemporary forms, and underlining the importance of these messages at a time of growing xenophobia and division.
  • Connection – forging lasting links between the UK and Ghana, between stage and community, between artists and audiences.

Partners

The tour will be delivered in collaboration with a network of UK festivals, venues, cultural organisations, local authorities, and educational institutions, ensuring reach and lasting impact.
