We promote not only traditional music and dance but also the visual arts, story-telling, documentary and feature films from and about indigenous cultures. In addition to marketing and managing tours of the UK and Europe by indigenous performance groups, we will also be hosting indigenous arts spaces in festivals - combining workshops, performances, film screenings, art exhibitions, crafts stalls and discussion fora to celebrate and promote indigenous wisdom, knowledge and spirituality.

KAUSARY – ANDEAN HERITAGE

Kausary are one of Europe’s best-known Andean bands, and are based in the UK. They boast an exciting, expressive and talented line-up that will enchant any audience with their sounds of Latin America. Whether it is music for the heart or for the feet they will entertain and delight any audience.

Formed in 1995, in the UK, Kausary has a repertoire of traditional Andean and contemporary Latin sounds. Styles typical of the Andean highlands, coastal lowlands, Amazon basin and forest, Cuban, Latin are all played with a depth of emotion unequalled.

Kausary in Quechua (the Andean language) means To Revive. As suggested in their name Kausary promises to revive the Andean culture through the music so that we can feel its universal message. From Trujillo on the North Coast of Peru, Kausary dressed in colourful dress – skilfully, and with emotion, play traditional Andean music.

Wind instruments and drums are part of the original melodies from magnificent cultures like Quechuas and Aymaras. Sweet and melancholic tones represent native musical heritage and have become now in an essential part of folkloric music.

Recognised around the world, Andean folkloric music comes from mixing native instruments like the sampoña or quena (Andean flutes) with guitars and the famous charango (a small guitar originally made from an armadillo shell), all this combined with romantic lyrics. In the last twenty years, it is becoming popular mixing folkloric and modern instruments resulting in interesting fusions rhythms.
